I have 53 jumps (1980) most of them in LODI when I was 18... no tandem jumps... but it's pretty LOUD at altitude with the door open, so the instructor likely couldn't hear her. However, you would think that the positioning of her feet and her death grip on the plane should have been obvious... There should be a hand signal for abort! Kudo's to the instructor holding onto her, he probably aged 10 years in that jump... glad the grandmother was okay!
