Glass takes one hell of a lot more energy to produce. (oil. coal, natural gas, etc.) Most of it ends up in a land fill or on the bottom of the ocean. (glass was once used around the world as net floats, targets for shooting, such as skeet, etc.) Plastic is very easy to produce and recycle. Less fuel is used in shipping items protected by plastic. (bubble wrap, etc.) Less fuel is used creating items such as plumbing pipe, insulation for wiring, house siding, carpet, etc., etc., etc. Not to mention the fact it will last much longer than most metals. You might ask youself what is the down side of plastic? Those damn shopping bags we are stuck with because of people like you and those of your ilk that demanded we stop killing the trees. Funny thing is that trees are a true renewable resource and the products made from wood a biodegradealbe. (did I spell that right?)
