Fact vs. Fiction: The Leaning Tower of Pisa, Italy

Wouldn't you know it, someone else happens to be taking that cheesy staged photo in the same spot that you're trying to take it. In fact, it's happening all over.

Closer to home, Mission San Juan Capistrano is surrounded by fast food joints and service stations.

The tower and baptistry are situated on a very large "lawn" which is surrounded by a very tall wall lined with souvenir shops inside and out. Even so as you enter the gate, even with all the other tourists around the sight is amazing. We've all seen the photos and I didn't expect to be impressed but I was. Oh, and you have to pay extra to go up into the tower.
