I spent a lot of time in DC-9s / MD-80s/90s and loved them as a passenger (in F class on segments on NW & Delta) - so nice and quiet. Douglas built aircraft to last (unfortunately in an era when disposables have become the norm...).
I'd always heard the pilots talk about really flying the aircraft as opposed to 'monitoring the computer flying the aircraft'. I was wondering when you'd write something about the change and the economics and mechanics of the move so thank you.
I think it's a great move and you'll be a better pilot AND CAPTAIN for it.
I'm surprised you said 'co-pilot' instead of First Officer. I thought that was an old term not used any more. Am I missing something?
Regards.
