10 best places to live for avoiding world conflict
Expatify.com asked the question, "Where would you be the safest if World War III broke out tomorrow?" The answers arrived in a post titled "10 Best Places to Live for Avoiding World Conflict." Irrelevant as it may seem to you, the claws of conflict affect a revolving roster of nations. The knowledge of where not to go because of conflict, or better yet, where to go to avoid it, can be useful if you're planning to live, or even just spend some time, abroad. According to this article, countries that make the safety cut are: Switzerland, Costa Rica, Papua New Guinea, Canada, Seychelles, Finland, Tuvalu, Iceland, Bhutan, and New Zealand. Most of these choices make sense to me, based on what I know, but the undeniably gorgeous Seychelles seems like a somewhat uncertain choice. News stories covering the Somali pirates swarming the Seychelles area are prevalent. To be fair, I'm not convinced Somali pirates are a current threat for World War III. What are your thoughts? Where would you move in order to be as far removed from world conflict as possible?Filed under: Learning, Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Seychelles, Bhutan, Iceland, Switzerland, Canada, Costa Rica, United States, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Tuvalu, News, Central America, Caribbean

WW3 isn't going to break out in PNG, but it's one of the few countries left where you might be eaten or beheaded.

I agree with Dave. Port Moresby (PNG) is often considered among the most dangerous cities in the world. Do your research. You may be avoiding world conflict but if you're trying to not get killed, it wouldn't be my first choice.

A lot of crap has also gone one recently in Costa Rica along with PNG. I would not want to live in any one of these. You folks need to get your act together.....are you on someones $$$$$$?

I'm bought five acres in the Appalacian Mts. I've got two generators, seeds, plenty of guns & ammo, a 4 x 4 truck, tarps, tents, and a good woman. I believe that's all I will need. And, when BHO gets re-elected (yes, he will be) things are going to get real ugly in this country. Get prepared folks, Jan 1, 2013 is too late. Things are going to change and you can't just hope you're ready. Do it now or you will be part of the millions who become america's peasants. Last warning.

I happen to agree with you 110%. If he is re-elected by this brain-dead, social-entitlement sucking majority, we're history and it's "head to the heels. They may call you crazy now, but they'll have bleeding fingers trying to climb your mountain for "food".

What do you plan to do about stockpiling enough fuel to run the generators and the truck? Generators suck up gas like there's no tomorrow. I know -- I live in hurricane territory where we lose power for days and have to use generators. When the power is out, gas stations can't pump gas.

Russell, you are right . If BO is re-elected, he will finally be free to impliment his Social, Marxist agenda full blast. Not only will we turn in to Cuba, but his muslim friends will start flexing their muscle. We have a corrupt AG, a false president and a whole boatload of impotent legislatures.
The libs won't be satisfied until we turn in to Greece, and the goose that lays the golden egg is dead.
I hope and pray that 2012 is the end of an error.

Too funny, an article about safe places to live in the world and some hillbillies have to make it about our President. Why don't you hillbillies just leave the Country altogether? And how shocking to hear that you have guns and don't like the black guy running the Country. What a bunch of morons.
david Mar 17th 2012 10:53AM
Yeah....keep flapping your ignornant lips and when the bank breaks you'll be wondering why you no longer get your SSDI checks.
BOB Mar 17th 2012 4:27PM
WHERE DID HE SAY HE DID NOT LIKE A BLACK GUY??
BB Mar 17th 2012 11:26AM
Mike, I don't think it has anything to do with the President being black. Even if he were white, purple or green he would still be a bad President. Since he took office this country is in the worse shape I've ever seen it in and I've been around for a while. It will continue to be that way if he gets re-elected.
WILLIE Mar 17th 2012 12:42PM
YEAH!!! BUT YOU FORGOT HE TOOK (not Mr Obama, the whole admin) THE NATION IN A REAL BUSH, BASH, BAD SHAPE.. GOD BLESS OUR NATION..

How could anyone think they're safer or more peaceful in areas that are populated by people who do not value a human life? Most of the folks living in these areas would kill you in a heartbeat if they thought it was called for. Having said that, we may all be deciding we'll take our chances and head that way if the worst President in US History is re-elected. When you get worse than Jimmy Carter, you're baddddddd!!

Regarding Papua, New Guinea - One of my friends and her husband were stationed in Port Moresby for a couple years, as recently as last year. Port Moresby, as mentioned above, certainly by no means, could be considered safe. Living out of town is not really feasible unless you were rich, with a huge estate and very loyal security force. And then only if you could get utilities out to your property. Yes, cannibalism was practiced by tribes in the far north of the island but supposedly this hasn't been practiced for quite some time. One might actually be safer there than among the thieves and thugs in Port Moresby! There seem to be no social mores in this place. It should be called Port Mores-less. But, the question is: where would you feel safest if WWIII broke out? Canada, Switzerland,Finland, New Zealand and Iceland, in no particular order would be my 1st considerations.

I AGREE ON COSTA RICA, The first souvenir you need to buy is a gun there is so much crime there it is really uncontrable. Crimenals run rampet over tourism they shot and kill them with total disregard to the police, in other words they are not worried about being cought. Enjoy your life.
