Photo of the Day: Austin sunset

With any luck, plenty of people will witness at least one gorgeous Austin sunset over the course of the next two weeks. SXSW, a music, film, and interactive festival that takes place annually in Austin, Texas, kicks off this Friday. The city of Austin is expecting more attendees than ever this year. Even the usually quiet streets of East Austin, where this unedited photo was taken, will be bustling with tourists who carved away time from their schedules back home to visit Austin and soak up all of the creativity and related information that they can. Although the weather forecast is looking a bit dreary for Austin over the next few days, I'm crossing my fingers for another sunset like this one captured by Ben Britz. Everyone deserves to experience one of Austin's best features: the sky.

I don't know, the telephone poles and power lines sorta spoiled it for me.

I agree. I am a photo hobyist if you will. I don'thave photo shop, but you can edit those things out. I have some sunset photos just as nice. I would not say this is an exceptional shot. The sky is prettty, the tree is a nice effect, the rest should be gone imo.

If you cropped the pic to just around the tree, and get rid of the other un needed stuff on the sides, the power lines would not be noticible and you would have an awesome pic.

Not exactly gorgeous. Looks like something out of a Tim Burton movie. Interesting at best.

most amazing sunset I have ever seen was out of my back porch here in Oviedo Fla one winter evening,,,The clouds were so low and so numerous and fluffed in such a way as to form a pillow throughout the entire early evening sky as far as the eye could see, which was then light by a combination of coral and aqua light...have never seen anything like it before or since.I still think of that sky and glad I got some shots of it although my camera was not all that good at the time it was a great memory!!

Wires and poles? This is definitely not the photo of the day, week, or month.

I like the buildings and electrical lines. There isn't only one way to see a sunset.

My daughter has dozens of much better sunset shots, as well as some sunrise pics over Bahia Concepcion, Baja California. Her view from the deck of her liveaboard boat is the entrance to their harbor, with offshore islands in the distance. She never has to crop her photos or photoshop because there's nothing to block the view, lucky woman!

It has some small possibilities, but not in the original condition. It is obvious that the writer has no eye for photographic details as it appears the commentors do. Some cropping and burning would make it salvagable.

yeah, ok....not. I have really awesome sunsets in my collection.
