Spiderwebs blanket Australian tourist stopover

Unless looking to relive a scene from Steven Spielberg's "Arachnaphobia" (1990), travelers should be wary of a visit to Wagga Wagga, Australia anytime soon. One of several towns affected by the recent floods in southeast Australia, Wagga Wagga is experiencing a curious phenomenon: thousands upon thousands of spiders looking for higher (and drier) ground are working together to weave massive webs across sticks and bushes. In some cases, the webs have grow so large they cover entire fields.
The strange spiderweb blankets were first reported by the BBC. According to the news outlet, approximately 9,000 people in Wagga Wagga been forced to evacuate due to flooding. Wagga Wagga is a popular stopover for people heading between Adelaide, Sydney or Melbourne. What would you do if you were on the road and survived a flood but were then greeted by thousands of hairy-legged spiders? Just the thought gives us the creepy crawlies.

These being ground-dwelling spiders, I must add that the "funnel-web spider" is ground dwelling, extremely venomous and aggressive! One bite and you better find a "anti-venom" like within 20 minutes, or that's all she wrote for you!
This just freaks me out, and I cannot even believe that one picture, it looks like it has "snowed" a couple of feet! I'd be buying me a flame-thrower Pronto!! Bug sprays don't work very well with spiders, mainly because you have to get them to walk through the liquid or spray it directly on them before it will do any good. Bug bombs work the best, but I don't see how you could use them in this scenario. Bet the people there didn't know they had that many arachnids! Saw part of a study done on spiders once, they found over 160 different species in just an acre of ground!

Must admit, they're very artistic. Looks like a Norman Rockwell snow scene.

Well, this is some spooky sh__. I think it's a sign... there are forces here that we don't know about. Maybe it's the full moon, sun spasms or some other phenomenon. But anyway, it's mighty creepy. I wouldn't go there.
