Yes, I agree with Victoria that the article on "Foods" is ill-focused in creating a scare about non-existence of Western cuisine in Ghana. With over dependence on foreign imports, imported foods are common. Imported food culture is equally culturally imperialistic.
Humans are the same every where and food choices are now harmonised due to globalization. The fish "Tilapia" is common in western seafood restaurants and in fresh seafood markets. The same goes with fresh chicken or fried chicken or rotiserie(roast) chicken. Since restaurant eat-out culture is a modernising phenomenon, the Ghanaian traditional eat-outs are "Chop-Bars" with Spartan services.
To me "Fufu & Chicken Soup" is equivalent to "Chicken& Dumplings" and "Palava Sauce" is same as "Seasoned Spinach" or "Turnip Greens". Yams and white potatoes are about same and "Joloff Rice" is same as "Spanish Rice or
"Jambala Cajun Rice". As for soups, Ghanaian Palm Soup, Groundnut Soup , Okra or Light Soup -all are healthy and relflect Ghanaian cusine.I will not trade any of these for New England Clam Chowder, Lobster Bisque, Seafood Gumbo or Chicken Noodle Soup!!
