Money is a good point, but you've got it upside down I'm afraid. Look
at the money trails in Congo, which "Laurie" mentions quite
interestingly (and cluelessly, sorry Laurie): the whole history of
Congo since its independence reads as a shameless provocation of local
antagonisms by international mining corporations (and American ones
prominently among them), with the eventual sponsorship of a strong
local leader (e.g. Mobutu). Lots of the greed involve is not local to
start with, it's our own: where's our pension money coming from? Are
we investing responsibly? Are we consuming responsibly? In what hotels do we go when we travel? As I happen to know several of the countries mentioned in this list, reading the comments here feels like looking into our abysmal schizophrenia ...
