I'm retired so I take my dog everywhere. This past June we went shopping and then stopped at Outback for dinner as usual. I was gone perhaps 45 minutes. It was about 70 degrees outside and I had left her ice in an old canvas lunch bag that she is well aware of, both front windows partially down and a oscillating fan going. When I came out with her portion of prime rib and mashed potato's she was gone. After contacting the Burbank P. D. I was told animal control had picked her up. I immediately went to their location about two minutes away and was met at the door by this wana be cop. His first remark was; "what took you so long?" This did not register until later. When I first saw her missing I called out her name and could hear her barking. He demanded $25.00 for her release and when I produced it from a large wad of money he became even nastier and said ;"you know I could have her mechanized." He argued about her age, if she was fixed and if she had just had puppy's which she didn't.. In the end I was issued a misdemeanor citation, she had injured her leg when he took her harness off without unbuckling it and when he finally brought her out he kept yanking back on the leach choking her. I became very ill for over a month with several visits to the E. R. When I went to court I was told the City of Burbank prosecutes everyone who leaves their pets unattended in their vehicles. Weekly visits to Outback have ceased as well as other businesses in Burbank that don't allow pets in.
