Wow, Jeannie, you really popped your cork on that one! Are elephants more important than people? Why shouldn't Asians reproduce? I noticed neither you nor the article mentioned ivory piano keys. I can understand having restrictions on killing elephants, but like another reader said, why not anesthesize them instead. And let the poor Asians reproduce responsibly.

Personally I think some people are way below the importance of elephants. There are some pretty bad people in this world. They don't make piano keys from ivory any more, do they? I hope not. There will come a day when people will say the have never seen a wild elephant or panda or tiger and so on. I hope this never happens but if people keep poaching, that's exactly what's going to happen.
