The story - even interesting - sounds like mix of reality, some historical data from Wikiedia and your very clorful fantasy :) Details about czech Christmas - which every little czech kid knows - are missing.. and christmas tree can be alive more than one month even in very good heating room - approved :)
I know that too much care is simple too much, but if I was in foreign countries for long time(years) it was always good to have a "second family".
To VIRNIK: marry a foreign person is never positive for future grand parents - when she's moving to his country - the future kids are alienated from them.
