Galley Gossip: Flight attendant haunted layover hotel ghost stories (and a haunted plane!)
In the spirit of Halloween, I'd like to share a few layover hotel ghost stories from flight attendants I know...At a hotel in San Francisco the water kept turning itself on during the night. After the 3rd or 4th time, instead of getting up and turning it off, I had a little talk with the ghost. I was thinking I must have lost my mind. Water went off automatically. Never came on again! - Vicki Howell
At our current Paris hotel, I had an apparition appear at the foot of my bed. At first I didn't think it was anything until I felt somebody sit on my bed. I turned on the light near the bed and of course there was nothing there. – John Gonzales
On a layover in Miami, I felt someone/something pull the covers off of my shoulder and breathe cold air onto the back of my neck. I jumped out of bed, ran for the door, turned on the light... and no one was there. On the next trip another flight attendant couldn't get into that same room with her key. Security couldn't get in either. They had to change her room. Gives me the chills even talking about it. - Penni Reynolds Piskor
At a Sheraton in New Jersey in 1989, I kept thinking there was someone in my room. Woke up several times convinced. Searched the room. Nothing was there. Found out later the hotel was reputedly haunted, and one of the elevators was known to run all night, stopping at each floor even though nobody called it - Julie Meyer
I always clip my curtains closed so the light will not shine through and wake me up. In the middle of the night it was like someone used their hands to push both curtains back forcefully. I was lying there freaking out! Another time I woke up to find the decorative bed quilt folded neatly in the corner of the room. I don't fold at home nor am I good at it, so I know I didn't do it in my sleep. The third time we did a seance. We asked for a sign and all the elevators opened simultaneously. We jumped up and ran! – Lynne Smith
In Mexico a friend had similar experience as John did above. A guy sat on the edge of his bed in the middle of the night, but when he turned on the lights, no one was there. He mentioned something to the front desk and they sheepishly asked if he was gay. When he said yes, they said that Jorge always visited gay guys in their rooms (I was never visited!) I don't believe in haunting and have waited for them every time! – Gordon Valentine
Lights, faucet and bathtub all turned on during my sleep at the layover hotel in New Orleans. Just asked the naughty perpetrator to behave themselves because I needed the sleep before an early roll out. - Alx Stellyes
It was an old hotel in Boston, next to an historic graveyard. I was having a crazy dream about a Nun. My room was in a corner and I woke up in the middle of the night to repeated pounding. Turned the lights on, it stopped. Asked the driver the next day what the deal was with the hotel. (Didn't tell him about my dream) He said a certain floor was haunted ( mine, of course!) by a NUN. – Lori Polka
In Manchester England we used to stay at a hotel with huge vaults and all were opened except one where someone locked themselves in it hundreds of years ago. The skeleton key is still in the lock, from the inside, but nobody can get it opened. Then you go into the bedrooms and they are all different themes. Mine was very opulent. She (the ghost) Kept turning on the sink faucet. After getting up 2 times to turn it off I was getting pissed. The third time I just screamed "turn that effing water off! And it did. Never picked up another Manchester trip. - Daniel Koukes
At Tower Air there was an aircraft (604) we ferried a lot. A spirit would walk up and down the aisles and wake us up. It also would unlatch everything in the galley and open all the carts and bins. You would close them and tell her to stop. A little later you'd hear it happening again. – Lynne Smith
The hotel Jakarta is known for having all sorts of ghost stories, especially amongst female, Chinese, Japanese and Korean crew. They tend to sleep 2-3 in a room instead of alone in that hotel! – Sodwee.
There was an Eastern Airlines airplane that went into the Everglades. It was Flight 401. The airline finally had it dismantled and used parts in other aircraft - Vicki Howell
Eastern Airlines L-1011 #318 was a haunted plane. It had ovens taken from the airplane that crashed in the Everglades in the early '70's. So many sightings and occurrences were reported that the a/c # had to be changed. Who knows where it is now - Julie Meyer
I remember reading the book of Eastern flight 401 and all the happenings from that incident. Came to be they had to remove all the extra parts from the plane and any carts that were used on other flights had to be grounded as they were all linked to Flight 401 – Gordon Valentine

I buy almost everything except food and clothing from online auctions.
The site that has the best deals is ( http://tinyurl.com/PennyAuctionBargains )
I bought my son an iPad there for less than $100 and my
husband a $250 Loews gift cards for $48.
Why would I even think about shopping anyplace else?
'Ol Glenn Nov 2nd 2011 9:21AM
Got news for you Sheila....ghosts dont believe in you either.
Rosemary Nov 2nd 2011 9:33AM
You would believe in ghosts if you lived in my woirld.
Since 1986 I have had three ghosts of my relatives and a male friend of their ssitting inside my body as possessing spirits and say they will not get out until I convince people they are doing this to me, and they also say they will not get out until a priest or deliverance minister proves they can force them out.
So far no one has believed me or agreed to help me so I am stuck with trying to get anyone at all to believe me so they will agree to leave my body. so will someone on here please write here and tell these four to get out of my body because you believe they are alive in spirit, and if you do I will be ever so grateful because you may be the only ones who can free me from this situation by telling them you believe they live on after their earth death.
They say they are stuck between worlds and can't go towards the light until humans believe in them and let them go.

Rosemary, there is only one way to get spirits to leave, you MUST invoke the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in His name command them to leave. His name is the ultimate authority, He holds the keys to Heaven and Hell, they must obey. That is what priests do, they know the power of His name.

Rosemary,
In response to your request, I have seen some strange things that I can't explain. So to help ease your suffering, I do believe spirits can't passover as they say until someone acknowledges their exisistence. I do believe that they are alive and possessing your body for their bidding. So spirits please vacate her body, she would like to live in peace, and thank you.

How much did you have to drink or were you on LSD, seems like people will say anything to get in the news.

I have stayed at Mexico Citys oldest hotel for years...& actually had an apparition appear in my room 3 nights in a row...blueish-green haze of a man's torso. When asking the front desk about it, they confirmed that the hotel is haunted. Since then, I have talked with several hotel workers & collected many stories. Theres the ghost of a small boy on a bicycle that rides through halls laughing, theres a chamber-maid dressed in 1910 clothing that goes through walls, theres a security-guard whom comes out of the shadows in the business center at night, & then theres the little girl dressed in 1800s attire whom is seen playing with dolls in the store. This hotel is the real deal & I didnt believe in ghosts until one kept me up for 3 nights in a row....And no, I wasnt under the influence of tequila!

I don't mean to be pedantic, but I think you meant to use "who" instead of "whom". I do believe your story as I have read books on the subject. If you want to read a good book, read: "Many Lives, Many Masters" by Brian Weiss. I think you will like it. He is a Miami psychiatrist.

Of course this was after 8 margaritas.

Most of the time, people are just scaring themselves. Optical illusion or hallucination. However, there are some time things get a little freaky.
Kath Nov 2nd 2011 10:37AM
...Clearly, this ghost is not of the Energy Star variety...LOL....gotta have a 'green' ghost.....it's not politically correct otherwise haha.
Carl Nov 2nd 2011 10:43AM
Just have her committed and let it be over with.
becky Nov 2nd 2011 10:49AM
I believe in hauntings. Not everything can be explained by science and common sense. I have stayed at hotels that have had weird things happen. Wether you believe or not doesnt matter. My mind will not be changed.

Rosemary,
I am a chosen prophet of God & recently I became an ordained minister. The Scriptures say every living thing has a soul, & so we must believe that ghosts live on after our bodies die. The ghosts who you claim to be possessed by cannot make you do anything you would not be willing to do. God gave us freewill,...ghosts & even satan cannot steal that from us. Satan cannot even steal people's souls, that is while satan has to try t make a deal with them to acquire their souls if they are lost to satan, those people have an active part in the deal, or else God sends his angels to contend with satan & defend someone who may in rare occassions be victimized by satan, such as Job. You must tell the ghosts that they must go where God wants them to go, it is not their choice to stay on earth after their passing on. We earn our place by the things we do. God created Heaven, Earth & Hell, to make sure that people did not have to deal with evil people's spirits after they die. If they are supposed to go to Heaven they surely would have gone, happily & eagerly. If they are supposed to go to Hell, they would not be allowed to refuse, satan sends out his minions to collect what is due him. Explain these facts to the ghosts who want to be acknowledged & let them know that you have told people & the advice the people are giving proves they do believe that people's souls live on after they pass on. Everyone on earth obviously does not need to be convinced, because that would be impossible, everyone in the world never agrees about anything.

I think this person made all this up to see if they could get any crazy to respond to them....and guess what they did!

In 1981 I was working as a caretaker at, and living alone in an abandoned sanitrium in northeastern Oregon. I lived alone on the 2nd floor under the 3rd floor surgery room for 29 days until finally fleeing in the middle of the night orm all the paranormal activity. A few years later, this place was featured on "Scariest Places On Earth" after a caretaker there stabbed himself in the head with a screwdriver. It was a HORRIBLE experience. Ghosts DO exist!

Note to all the people who see ghosts.
Don't you remember? Your doctor told you that you must keep taking your prozac.
Ed Nov 2nd 2011 12:29PM
I am very religious but I will allow that arena to remain what it is. I have talked to many who have had paranormal events happen around them. I believe in the hereafter as it is a part of my belief system.
The arthors of Ghost on Flight 401 told me they believed what they were told and they sat in on the final seances (sp) and since then all paranormal events stopped.
Some people are more tuned into the paranormal than others. I believe that to be true.

Ghosts definitely do exist! My hometown in Michigan was originally settled back in approximately 1828 and was one of the stopping points for the underground railroad. There are many houses in town that have had numerous ghost sightings and paranormal activity occurring within them according to firsthand accounts of my sibling's friends, etc. Also, there is an extremely old cemetery in town and back in the late 90s a tombstone started glowing after is was accidentally broken. There was never any scientific evidence found as to why the tombstone would have started glowing.
The town I live in now in Virginia also has a notable/famous ghost occupying the quilt museum downtown which was once the house of a prominent man and his family who took in civil war soldiers to nurse them back to health. The ghost, seen by many people, is of one such young soldier who died at that residence.
