Somaliland was a separate country before it joined Somalia in 1960. And Somaliland withdrew from the failed union in 1991. The only reason that it is not recognized today is politics. It has defined populations, borders, and all characteristics of statehood.
It is a democratic system with multi-party system. It has had a number of successful elections, at two presidential elections.
Somaliland has a police force, military, navy, its own money, and passport.
The world could withhold Somaliland’s recognition as long as possible, for the Somaliland people: it is impossible to reunite with Somalia.
