Smartphones now make it possible for airport travelers to have food delivered to their departure gate
A smartphone app that is available on both iPhone and Android phones now makes it possible for travelers using the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport to order food and have it delivered to their departure gate, says Martin Moylan of Minnesota Public Radio. Participating restaurants at the airport include French Meadow Bakery & Cafe, Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery, and Chili's Too.This service is available from 7AM to 8PM daily, with a promise of the food arriving 20 minutes after orders are placed. If the delivery is late or a flight leaves early customers will receive a full refund. JFK International Airport is also participating in the program, with the Chicago O'Hare Airport to jump on board this month.
To take advantage of this service, smartphone users should download the B4 YOU BOARD app, which is free.

How retarded is this??? Take food that is twice as expensive as it should be (airport) then tack on a sur charge on that for delivery because you to lazy to walk the 100 yards. Just remember EVERY smart phone tracks EVERYthing you do. Its called an identifier number.

This is just another example of the phony security issue! Having food delivered to the
departure gate must require someone to inspect it for a hidden device, etc. What about that
baloney of liquids? It could be in the salad dressing container even though the usual dressing container is much less than 3 oz. Then we have the dangerous weapons such
as REAL utensils .....knife, fork. Oh well, that does not count because if you sit in Business
class or 1st class, you suddenly become better than the American citizens sitting in Coach.
Cost___well, if airlines really wanted to show a profit, they could dump the soft drinks in
cans and use plastic bottles, but that would not be GREEN; it takes petroleum to make
plastic jsut as it takes petroleum to help generate electricity to melt/make aluminum, so
it is really a NO WIN battle. Just think about the weight of all that fluid and metal in the
cans!

The food is from a restaurant inside the secured area.

John - you don't get it. The food is from restaurants that are ALREADY LOCATED BEHIND THE SECURITY CHECK POINT. They simply walk the food over to where you are sitting next to your gate - typically from only a very short distance.

John, The restaurants are in the terminals, & beyond the security checkpoint.
Don't fly much, huh?

This will not be successful because it will take too much skill and man power to pull off efficiently. They have enough trouble pulling off over the counter service. Plus as other have said why wouldn't people just go to a counter and get the food? It is a NON - service extra that you will be big bucks for.

Sorry *paying big bucks for

Hey There!
There is NO surcharge for the service. The app is free. Delivery is free. Works great. Can we get a little optimism here? You can order and avoid standing in another line. We're aiming to make your lives a little less painful...

Hi5! Good idea! For flyers like our son who has Sensory Processing issues, just being in public is a major accomplishment--EVERYDAY! Coupled with being diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum, social interaction in a public place like an airport restaurant is challenging.
In other words, to have him sit calmly playing on a smartphone, e-tablet as a distraction from ALL of the SENSORY(5 senses) activity happening around him in a busy airport, is an accommodation that is worth the PRICE OF PEACE. Maintaining our son's serenity in a non-Sensory-Integrated world is vital and a daily task. Self-Regulation only works some of the time.
Looking forward to more airports and restaurants to buy-in on this smart, user-friendly, progressive 'fast-food' ordering feature. :-)
