I've seen some crazy urban climbingvideos in my time, but this one takes the cake. It was captured on a helmet cam and follows four teenagers as they scramble up the Moskovskyi (Moscow) Bridge in Kiev, while traffic rushes by below. After a brief conversation in Russian at the beginning of the video, the teens simply begin scaling the steel cables that hold the bridge in place, without the use of any kind of climbing gear or safety equipment. Eventually they reach the top, and even climb inside the main tower, which stands some 377-feet in height.
Judging from the final shots of the video, I don't know what would be scarier. Climbing the bridge, or making your way back down.
Nombre pura chingada que me suba yo parariba, esta muy alto muchaco, mejor los espero aqui abajo en la tierra.. ha ha yo no les entendi nada lo que desian esos muchachos. "Bueno asta la vista baby"
Your not living unless you push boundaries. We would have never been to the moon if there weren't people doing things that scare others. Obviously they've done it before. Thank you for shooting it so everyone else could feel the experience! I LOVE IT!!!!
I hope they were Arrested! This is the same problem in New York where people think they can get away with something illegal. Really stupid and dangerous as they have no training or using any safety equipment.
..... And people speed and get away with it when it's illegal. If ya noticed by the way, they had had gloves that gripped the cables they climbed on, and it actually looked pretty safe to me. So there's nothing wrong with an adrenaline rush.
I've been across this bridge--it's scary from deck level. My stomach turned over when he turned around to get a photo--and took the time to replace the lens cover! I admire them too. Brave but foolish.
John ,Before you talk without knowledge look at my website. www.davefrieder.com I have been climbing and photographing New York's bridges for 18+ years and its all Legal!
Dave, I briefly checked your site. Looked pretty cool. So you didn't have to get any kind of permit or permission to climb the bridges? Interesting... had no idea...
For NYCDOT I did need permits. For the Port Authority and TBTA bridges no permit required. The same went for Amtrak to climb the Hell Gate Bridge. But for all the bridge authorities I did need a 3 million dollar liability insurance policy. I also did Gymnastics for over 20 years so climb all the bridges was not a problem.
My feet are still on pins and needles from watching this, especially near the top where the cables start to separate. The Ukrainians must have native American Indian in their blood to operate at these unprotected heights. May God Bless / Amen
I dont care how old they are. If I were their parents I would break their hands so they cant climb ever again. I can only imagine their parent's hearts breaking watching what their idiot kids were doing. My heart was breaking and I am not their parents. You raise kids, its so tough, with all the financial hardships and sacrifices and all the love...and poof in one stupid afternoon it all ends. For what? to climb a bridge. The more I think about this the more I want to beat the crap out of them.
