I once thought they were awful. Thought the children looked like dogs on a leash. But that was BEFORE I had a child who was quicker than me, would not listen when I told him to stay right with me & after the 2nd time of running off, even when I had someone with me who was suppose to be watching him while I was trying to get shoes for my other child, I immedially got a harness. He did not like it but he would not listen or hold my hand & I took care of that. I applaud parents who go the extra step to protect their child. Don't judge until you've walked in their shoes!!

I too had a child that would not hold my hand, was extremely quick, was prone to dash this way and that. That harness saved her life once. They can look silly, people can bitch, but sometimes they are an extra measure of security. Those of you without children- Back off.
