Read any science book and then read it again in 5 years. The scientists will conveniently revise it to fit new information that changes the situation. It is best not to put much stock in a story that quotes scientists. Next week they will say "sorry we didn't have that data at the time". That will make it all fine and now they are sure of the facts only to change it again later.
A more accurate statement should be that we currently think it is not possible but we can only detect certain facts given our observational limits. Soooo it is easy to see they are the politicians in their field always leaving room to squirm out.
