Once upon a time, airlines treated passengers like guests. Now, they treat us like cattle at a stockyard. When speaking informally to attendants, they seem to uniformly HATE the passengers, just as the TSA workers do.

OK, you want respect? Come dressed to fly like they did up until deregulation. Come with respect on your face and respect in your attitude. Now look back at the way people treated each other in the 1960's and that is what you are comparing to. Respect is earned and the bus crowd now pays bus prices to fly and expects first class service. Just isn't going to happen. You want cheap fares but expect Rolls Royce treatement. Just isn't going to happen. Remember, you get waht you pay for. Now days you pay $150 to go transcontintal or over the atlantic when in the 1960's it cost you a few thousan dollars ( that by the way were worth more but your government devalued them). Someone has to suffer as we all do. Airline employees are just that employees and not your slaves. Treat them right and you will be surprised how they respond. Treat them like crap and you get the same. I have seen some flight attendents come home with a two week paycheck less than $25 after all the deductions. How would your attitude be with that and having to put up with crap from hundreds of insulting passengers? Pilots spend thousands of dollars on becoming a pilot and airlines and the governemnt treat them like crap, pay them a quarter of what they use to and yet they keep on doing it? Why? Becasue they love aviation and flight, not becasue they love insulting passengers that misbehave. Most pilots would just as soon not even meet passengers but by tradition they open the flight deck after a flight. Gate agents are the most patient people in the world as they stand there getting berated by a passenger that in most cases casued his own problems. They try to fix a problem and their rewards are ususally low pay, overbearing management, no security, and insults from passengers in most cases. So stuff your comments about being treated in a paper sack and act like a decent humanbeing and you will be treated better as well. Get the chip off your shoulder and accept that you get what you pay for or go ride the bus since you will not be missed.
