C'mon... he wasn't talking about playing rugby on horseback, he was referring to doing a segment that involved horseback riding during the show on rugby. And, sure, "at the sticks" is most commonly used when discussing helicopters, but I've heard that same phrase thrown around in conversations about everything from small aircraft to model airplanes. As for your last comment,it was probably a softboard. Regardless, I think the point was that he was fortunate to be on a flimsy board and not the real deal. From one SoCal lady to another, give the man a break.
