Growing up in South Carolina, Folly Beach was a great secret, known only to native Carolina "sand-lapers," as we were called. Edisto Beach was quiet and residential, not a party beach. For true commercial fun with the children go to Myrtle Beach, S.C. For a more secluded upscale beach adventure complete with a small airport and great golf courses head for North Myrtle Beach, S.C. For very expensive fun and the beach, you can go to Hilton Head Island, S.C.
