Oh, no! I was hoping Folly Beach would be a well kept secret for the rest of my lifetime. Please don't tell anyone else. The 60's were the best time at Folly...all the beach music artists who went on to become famous, were featured at the old pier. I got to shag (the state dance, not the other meaning) to the best music and got together with my friends every weekend. Summers were wonderful...best time to be a teenager - even had an amusement park on the boardwalk....ahhhh...the good old days!

Exactly!! I agree.... When you have something so good or say great. Don't share the news with anyone sometimes. Keep it silent an enjoy it as long as possible. You 100% correct.

You are correct. The real special time at Folly was in the 50s and 60s. The old pier is gone and the beach has eroded and the quality of people has eroded. But then again that is what most people like these days so let them pile on into a place that once was pure magic for friends and family but sadly no more. This article was written for the drunken party numb brainer crowd and not the families that used to flock there back in it's heyday..

USED to be a nice place. I recently moved back to Charleston and Folly has definitely gone down hill. I know at least a dozen people that have gotten Ecoli from Folly. It is near impossible to find parking and it is all about the booze. And now, Folly Park was closed due to finding WWII war heads. Definitely not a place you want to take children, especially later in the afternoon. If you are out to get drunk and listen to foul mouth rude punks...folly is the place to be, otherwise...avoid it like the plague!
