Montreal sewer geyser tears apart car
With a little bit of luck, I have lived my life hitherto in a relative bubble of innocence. Before today, I knew not the existence of sewer geysers. This terrifying video shot by a youtube user captures the intense eruption of a sewer geyser in Montreal, Canada. The force of the geyser blows open a manhole cover, lifts a car off the ground, and severely damages the vehicle. As the underground waste spills out into the road, the cameraman remains steady. He films as the eruption reaches disgusting new heights towards the video's end.

Being a Montrealer and living not too far from where this happens it's not a sewer line, it was a storm drain. Just prior to this happening there was a short but intense downpour and this is the storm drain runoff coming up out of the ground.

It has more media sensationalization to say it's a sewer geyser than just a storm drain system.

Media sensationalism or no, how would you like to live next to a man hole that pops off and shoots 30 foot jets of water into the air every 5 years or so? I live there and this isn't the first time it's happened.

OMG-the point where the guy turns the camera on himself is SO funny! He should do that professionally!

THAT gives me an idea for a new kind of car wash,
I just need to try to control the pressure a little.
Got'ta admit, that car is sure clean underneath now,
except for that icky stuff.

The headline says the car was "torn apart." Other than what appears to be a detached rear bumper, the car is obviously still intact, albeit wet. Embellishing a story is one thing. Out-and-out lying is something else.

Can you imagine being in the Obama car of the future and driving over something like that.

That car needs to be boiled to be sanitized!

The car was torn apart? One bumper? It came out in pretty good shape, all things considered, I'd say. Imagine if it had been thrown any higher into the air and crashed down into or onto something else? Great video footage for a slow news day.
Anyone know the exact street (in Montreal) this happened on, seriously? In our next tumultuous downpour, I'd love to park my car there.

Not only is the car wraps around a manhole in the middle of the road, but when you get to see the damage that happens again.
