can you recommend another area so I do not invade your lovely state and beach. I have lived most of my life in CA and it has been invaded just like your has but CA is now broke, thank you Arnold, and gtangs and crime and I would like to relocate. Any suggestion? Not interested in Florida though.

Sandbridge beach in virginia beach. It is up the coast just over the state line and is the same, quiet, beutiful beach, houses on stilts but close to 'stuff' if you want such as the resort area williamsburg bush gardens etc, but it is just peace and quit at sandbridge.

You certainly have cause for concerns in CA! We are native New Yorkers, lived in FL for 13 years and are now happily and permanently located in Charleston, SC. We have a little bit of everything. Sports, the Arts, Festivals, great restaurants, beaches, night life, etc. We've been here 5 years and have never been happier. What things are important to you and I can give you some suggestions for different areas. Any area that has beaches will have heavier traffic and tourists. However, we don't have all the commercialism that Myrtle Beach has. Median age here is 38. No "heaven's waiting room" here!

I would recommend the Mountains of East Tennesssee. Just stay away from the big cities like Knoxville, (traffic and road construction all the time).
