Experience America this summer with Andrew Burmon

One of my colleagues once nicknamed his father's 2000 Miata "The Penis Extension". In hindsight, "Extension" could have been changed to "Reduction," but I give him credit for trying. And the guy had a point, anyone with an emotional engagement with their vehicle needs to name it -- it's a way of connecting and making the journey personal, or, if you're lucky a way to win a phone (details below.)
As Americans, we tend to grow attached to our cars, which isn't surprising considering its easy to put a couple hundred thousand miles behind the wheel of one auto. Emotional bonds are bound to be made, identities defined, and nicknames assigned.
Which is all to say I need to name my ride.

I named my Aveo..Antonio. He is a little guy so he really needed a sexy sounding name to boost his self esteem (or mine?!) So when I tell people I am going out with Antonio Aveo...it raises an eye brow or two!!!

In the mid-seventies, I named my 1963 Plymouth Belvedere , "The Bomb". It just seemed very appropriate....given it's condition.

Had a VW Squareback wagon missing an exhaust manifold piece. Nicknamed "the Asphyxiator" from too many trips back to college with the windows closed. Now that I think about, that's where all those brain cells went.

Hi Bob, your story about your car brought back memories. My brother Charlie had a car similar to yours. Three of us went to high school at the same time so he drove his car. In the middle of winter in New England, we would drive to school with the windows down. I did kind of like that car though. I froze alot but it's a good memory My brother is a cool guy.

I had a seafoam green Dodge Stratus that I named Simon the Seafoam Stratus. He was pretty rockin', and a little in touch with his feminine side.
