Delta is way behind the curve in this case. I have been in the ARMY for almost eight years and have had to deal with multiple airlines, with regards to their baggage policies. Most will waive their fees for any US Soldier traveling on orders. Traveling on orders is basically a set of papers that shows you are traveling for US Military purposes not on vacation. When I returned home after my first deployment to Iraq, Southwest treated me great. They did not give me any grief over how many bags or what they weighed, and I know they were over I even had to lift one onto the conveyor as it was so heavy. I am sure with the amount the government the pays to fly us delta could afford to help the soldiers out. As one person wrote their company would reimburse them for expenses, the military is far different. It is nearly impossible to get money back from them, and when you make what we do sometimes that is money we need to support our Families. Shame on Delta
