Crowds flocking to Navy SEAL Museum

While Navy SEALs normally work in the shadows, they came into the international limelight on May 2 when they killed Osama bin Laden.
Now the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum has seen its daily attendance triple. The museum in Fort Pierce, Florida, documents the history of the SEALs from their humble beginnings in 1943 as the Naval Combat Demolition Teams and Underwater Demolition Teams to the cutting-edge special ops force it is today.
Yet what will surely go down in history as one of the SEAL's greatest hits isn't covered by the museum yet. It's too recent. That will soon change if the museum raises $1.5 million to set up permanent exhibits in its new wing.
On memorial Day about 2,000 people attended services at the museum, and the SEAL team that killed bin Laden got special attention.
"The signal was sent that you cannot attack the U.S. and murder innocent women and children with impunity, that we will find you and get you and win this war," said Admiral Thomas L. Brown II.

This is supposed to be a sight for honoring the Navy Seals, not an opportunity to advertize things for sale. I think it is damn cheap to use the situation for marketing.

I agree with ya Harry. It's a damn disgrace the way some people are!! The SEAL's have put there lives on the line more times then I can count over the years! To those SEAL's on behalf of my family...THANK YOU! AOL should really screen these comments better.

The Navy Seals have always been the toughest bunch the military has ever trained. I've always bragged about those guys and what they do since have friends and family that have served. I just hope the country never forgets any of our troops when the war is finally over, these people give tremendous sacrifice for our freedoms yet ironically it's the Jane Fondas who would sell us out time and again getting the rewards from this country. This is an injustice that needs to be corrected.

SEALs don't really need the recognition, I mean that they prefer to remain anonymous for security reasons. Their satisifaction is internal. They are proud that they can do a good job for their country. And that is enough for them. There are people in the upper levels of government who know what they do and the SEALs get there satisfaction by knowing that their superiors know they do good work. I am sure they are equally appreciative of our good wishes and prayers and accolades for them-that just icing on the cake.

Sorry, my ex's dad was a Seal. He was never home but would impregnate his wife every year. She had babies they couldn't afford and had no help raising. He was crazy. She never had enough money to raise her family properly. He had to quit a year before he could have gotten full pension, basically he was an old, unstable alcoholic. He came home and sat and his wife had to get an accounting degree to feed her many children. What a guy. I am sure they all are not this way, but a life of this type of duty is not normal.

Yes, they are brave and deserving, and I am glad the people of this country recognize this. However, for their own safety, and the safety of their families, the less known, the better. It should never been revealed that it was even Navy SEALS that performed this mission, their unit should never been revealed. Much, too much is already known about them. They are much more effective working in the shadows, and in the cover of obscurity. I would hope that they would be forgotten and nothing more be said about them!!!
