And then there's the flip side of the visa issue -- when you make sure you take care of visa regulations on your own, only to find out once the cruise docs are finally processed that the ship will be handling it for all the passengers for a nominal $20 fee. Too bad you already spent $50 at the embassy and have a shiny new visa sticker to show for it. You'd figure the shp would excuse you from the $20 fee at least, since you don't need the visa they want to get for you? especially if you mention it up front and follow up later? Well, that's too much trouble and they didn't really plan for that, so they just claim that the embassy issued you the wrong kind of visa and charge you anyway. Even though you gave your actual cruise itinerary to the professional consular staff at the embassy. After all, surely a ship's purser knows more about entry regulations than the embassy personne, rightl! :-p
