Around the world in 2000 pictures
This quick trip around the world by filmmaker and photographer Alex Profit is a stunning display of photo-tourism. The video embarks on a journey through Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, St. Petersburg, Shanghai, Tokyo, New York and London. It will cure your nagging fits of wanderlust for the duration of its five minute run-time. Beyond that though, you may experience an uncontrollable urge to visit Barcelona or one of the other many locales documented.
The video was made by compiling 2000 photographs from eight separate locations. It took Alex twenty-four days to travel to all of the locations and get the shots. That is covering a lot of ground, fast. If you could choose to travel to any of these locations, which one would you choose?

Gee, I didn't know that Europe, two cities in Asia and one city in N.America comprised the whole world.

Cool concept, but just using a video camera would have been much smoother. I got a headache watching because of the jerking of the photo changes. Great video otherwise.

This video is OK and unique in that it includes many cities. The one he did of just Paris is much better.

The most exciting, and intriguing continent on the planet is Africa; yet it's the most ignored and at the same time considered with bias as homogenous despite the sublime fascination.

Because it is DANGEROUS.

BORING! Multiple pictures of the same buildings and sites. Totally uninteresting pictures of cars, bridges, etc.
Katie Mar 23rd 2011 8:22AM
It would have been better if they let us know where each site was so we knew where we wanted to visit. Also, I got queezy watching it. The movement was too jerky. I complement the effort. It must have been really time consuming.

I agree with Stacy..gave me a headache. they could have showed a better representation of New York City..not two seconds of graffiti and part of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Interesting editing, but the pictures in NYC were disappointing to say the least. The most interesting thing in the City are a couple of bridges and graffiti-covered benches? There are countless beautiful spots, ignored. You missed it, buddy.

Far too jerky/disorienting. Still shots stitched together haphazardly do not make an effective travelogue. Smoother transition between scenes would be an improvement.

This "video" made me car-sick. I wanted to pull over to the curb and throw up.

After viewing the collection twice I want to go back to all these places. note- except for St. Petersburg, which I have never visited.... That visit will be my first time.

I really enjoyed this video, it’s a neat idea. I think his portrayal of the cities was great. In each one you saw iconic landmarks but you also got a feel for what it is like to be there, you see the graffiti in NYC, you walk through the many arches and corridors of other cities. It is the kind of thing that draws you into a location using very little information. This isn't just a smithering of famous places that you might expect to see, its real life. It is like we stepped into the actual experience. When I reflect on places I have been I don't just remember the great view from the top of Corcovado but I also remember the busses and the mass of people, the graffiti, and my movement up the steps to the Christ statue, or just the beauty of the Grand Canyon you also take in everything around you and that stays in your mind and heart. Props to Mr. Profit this was very cool.

I thought the idea that he had to do this was kinda cool, but i agree, New York got the shaft here . I mean the best he could come up with was showin grafitti from the brooklyn bridge. not a very good example of N.Y. Other than that i thought it was neat

Why call it "a trip around the world" when only 8 cities are shown?
Jane K Mar 31st 2011 5:06PM
Maybe it might be only 8 cities, but 8 awesome looking cities, dont you say?
Best wishes, Jane

The caption does not list in order the cities as they appear on the film.Paris is listed first, but it's shown near the end of the film.

I liked the concept, actually got the feel of walking through foreign locations, I swear some of the early shots looked like, and reminded me of my trek through Brouge. There were some clever jumps in this compilation. Book cover, or poster becoming the location, interesting transitions as well; going into a car and exiting in another city, going through a tunnel and finding oneself on board a boat. All very good. I enjoyed the ending, I went up those very steps and anticipated the turn around to view the Eiffel tower. The movement was a bit herky jerky, and a introduction to the cities viewed might have been in order. Otherwise, a fine job.

I had to stop watching it.........I thought I was going to get sea-sick. Of what I could see, I had no idea where I was-I guess you had to have gone to those psecific places-maybe it got better as it went on. Trying to decide if its going to be a "Dramamine" moment

unless you have a VERY fast connection, the movie "hicups," halts constantly. Don't have patience enough--besides I rather travel myself!
