Vegetarian passenger tosses meat at flight attendant
One of the simple truths about air travel is that the food is usually somewhere between sub-par and awful. Sure, there are exceptions, but these are unlikely oases in a desert of damp sodium-rich indelicacies. Unless you are posted up in first class on Singapore Air eating pan-seared Chilean bass in bouillabaisse broth with capsicum confit and zucchini pasta or one of their many other haute options, you will likely be eating a mass-produced goo concocted by scientists rather than chefs.
It seems a brief food revolt began and subsequently ended on a Continental Airlines flight from the Dominican Republic yesterday. According to MSNBC, the flight was bound for Newark, and a vegetarian passenger was served a meat dish that offended her greatly. Instead of politely returning the meal, disgust consumed her. She tossed the meaty tray at a flight attendant in a display of disorderly resentment. Upon landing, the port authority greeted the plane, but the flight attendant declined to press charges.

Hey Annie Fannie, perhaps all uptight vegetarians should have a red v tattooed on their foreheads so no one would make such an offensive horrible mistake!

She should at the very least be put on the no fly list and baned from ever travling by air again.

There are just so many comments that could be made about the headline that what has been said so far is kind of disappointing.
But on the serious side...passenger should be behind bars right now eating a bologna sand!!!

Annie.......If something like that "outrages" you you need professional help.
yumyum1228 Mar 21st 2011 9:39PM
i'm sure she didn't press charges because the airline would have FIRED HER!!!
CoExGal Mar 21st 2011 9:53PM
I am a Flight Attendant, and the passenger's behavior was borderline violent. Anyone who strikes a Flight Attendant gets arrested. Period. I would have pressed charges.

Tell me, Ms attendant: Isn't it normal to announce what the meal will be before serving? That gives a passenger the opportunity to substitute available snacks etc., not waste a meal, or cause a display like that EXTREMELY ignorant person did.

Coudn't get in a union , huh?
brian Mar 21st 2011 10:03PM
hear is this if she ordered or had ask what selections were offered because you can ordered your meals when you booked your flight ie diabetic and the like providing the flight is not a meal for purchased opiton and even those are not as bad anyway if I were the flight attendant I would press charges and had sued the passanger as well and trust me I would even colect her welfare check and her ss check she the passanger could have made 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwhich
for which I do in case and I do get hungry since it is a 14 hour flight not to mention the littl tiny food that they give now of days but when you do order your food via online when you make reservations in most cases the flight attendant comes to you before the airplane takes off and confrims not only were you are sitting but confrims what you had requested in terms of what you had ordered for your meal perfance which is khoser veg dieabetic low sdium and yes this is true and not the oppisite low sodium and not mega high the diabetic meal is served before the rest of us pheasents so you get to eat before anyone else that may be jamed against you oh yes when I was in the navy and yes we and I were Longer flights we had box launches in a sometimes frezzing cold airplane which everyone got was ham and cheses with two small cans of oj but I got smart I went to arbys and got 4 market fresh sandwhiches and brought me a 12 pack of diet coke for the long ride have to fly in style even on a 25 hour flight on a turbo prop airplane military style to japan yes it is very nosiy and mega cold

This is a period: .
Please try to use one once in a while. I went blue from lack of oxygen trying to read your post.

To brian: From where did you get the idea that a flight from the Dominican Republic to Newark is 14 hours long?
Was it from the same comic book where you learned how to not spell, capitalize, or punctuate properly?
Perhaps all of that comes from you being a "pheasent".
Are you an Asian pheasant or an American pheasant?
How long is your tail plumage?

I'm a vegetarian, and once had pre-ordered a vegetarian meal for a flight. When the time came for the attendant to serve my meal, she explained that she'd just given it away to another vegetarian passenger who hadn't pre-ordered his/her meal. Then the flight attendant apologized and offered me a couple beers as a substitute... and I'm a recovering alcoholic. I was pretty offended at both matters. Actually I just wish airlines would stop offering their food services for flights that are less than 8 hours. If folks can't go that long without eating then they should bring their own snacks. Also, not having the flight meals would hopefully help cut flight prices.

Aww man, the story sounded alot better in my mind... Flight attendant meeting men's needs and responding by joining the cat fight-mile high club. Honestly this woman is a saint. Although if a man threw the meat some passenger would have assaulted him or the article would have been retitled sexual harrassment. What a lucky dumb b***h
Mike Mar 21st 2011 10:16PM
Why are they calling it food?
ruzz Mar 21st 2011 10:31PM
The passenger's actions were obviously wrong. It could have caused one hell of a 3-mile high food fight!
But, I'm sure there have been plenty of unintended servings of pork to Muslims or non-kosher food to Jews, etc...
Malaycobra Mar 21st 2011 10:18PM
Probably couldn't even spell union...
nestmission Mar 22nd 2011 9:27AM
What makes people think they are ENTITLED to act like animals? This woman would want to press charges if the attendant slapped the crap out of her.....as she shold have. I am long suffering, but if someone threw food, and rather it hit me or not, she would have been on the ground yelling uncle!
mike Mar 21st 2011 10:40PM
I am just surprised the flight originated in the D.R. It sounds more like the behavior you would expect from someone, say, from...Boca Raton!!
james Mar 21st 2011 10:44PM
Stupid bitch probably pissed that it wasn't a dog dragged out of the slums of DR...
