Vegetarian passenger tosses meat at flight attendant
One of the simple truths about air travel is that the food is usually somewhere between sub-par and awful. Sure, there are exceptions, but these are unlikely oases in a desert of damp sodium-rich indelicacies. Unless you are posted up in first class on Singapore Air eating pan-seared Chilean bass in bouillabaisse broth with capsicum confit and zucchini pasta or one of their many other haute options, you will likely be eating a mass-produced goo concocted by scientists rather than chefs.
It seems a brief food revolt began and subsequently ended on a Continental Airlines flight from the Dominican Republic yesterday. According to MSNBC, the flight was bound for Newark, and a vegetarian passenger was served a meat dish that offended her greatly. Instead of politely returning the meal, disgust consumed her. She tossed the meaty tray at a flight attendant in a display of disorderly resentment. Upon landing, the port authority greeted the plane, but the flight attendant declined to press charges.

Who cares if the attendant pressed charges? She should have her ass locked up for creating a disturbance aboard an airliner. The attendant should have slugged her with a coffee pot.

One of the reasons I became a vegetarian was because as an farmer's daughter, I saw firsthand the pain and terror of butchered animal. So I quietly became a vegetarian. However, this particular vegetarian on the flight appears to have respect ONLY for animals, not any other living things -- such as human beings (and flight stewards are human beings, last time I checked). I am both puzzled and dismayed at her self-righteousness. She gives vegetarians a bad name.

I agree. Kick the passengers ass and throw her in jail.

HEY!!!!!! Don't ever upset the attendant. They whack-out, grab a beer, and shoot down the inflated escape thingie.

The Dominican Republic? An oasis of western culture and sophistication.

To frankerin: Just Too funny.
Thank you for the laugh.
I needed it.

I suppose people around the world were saying the same thing about the U.S. when one Gerald Finneran (a "sophistcated" banker), in a pique of alcoholic rage manhandled a few flight attendants and, in first class (you know, where all the classy people sit), pulled down his pants and defecated on the food cart. Gentleman that he was, he wiped himself on the napkins. Ah, The United States: "an oasis of western culture and sophistication..." as you so brilliantly put it.

The airline attendant should have bitch slapped the passenger 1/2 way
up the aisle . Some arrogant low IQ people need their butt kicked on a
regular basis. The passenger should know her place and stay there.

What is wrong with people today? So many have so little, to NO, respect for themselves, let-alone for others! So this woman was served a meal with meat instead of a vegetarian tray! A simple, "Excuse me, I ordered the vegetarian tray!" would have been appropriate! What kind of a 'pig' throws food at anyone? The woman is lucky! If she had thrown the meat at me I WOULD HAVE pressed charges!
merreprankster Mar 21st 2011 9:52PM
Hey, Gifford, the flight was coming from the Dominican Republic so It's safe to assume the odds are the woman was latin. Whatever race, this is unacceptable behavior that probably upset a lot of the other passengers. She should have her latin, white, black, or polka dot ass thrown in jail and be banned from further travel. And, you need a sedative and a one-way ticket to Gripsville.

white people travel to AND from the Dominican also.....

While the passenger was wrong to be violent, the flight attendant made a huge mistake in serving the vegetarian passenger a meal with meat in it. I am a vegetarian and I would be outraged if someone made that mistake. The flight attendant must have realized what a huge mistake she made and therefore decided not to press charges.
William Mar 21st 2011 10:21PM
That wasn't a huge mistake, that was a simple mistake. The huge mistake was the drama queen passenger reacting with rude & arrogant behavior because she thought she was morally superior to people who don't share her vegan life style..typical of the young & spoiled.
If someone wants to be a veggie for dietary/health reasons, that's one thing, but the truth is WAY more animals die due to cultivation practices in row cropping the beans & grains & things that keep vegans going than die in slaughter houses every year. Unless you hand cultivate your own food, you don't have a moral leg to stand on.
rnkids Mar 21st 2011 11:33PM
I agree with William!! Your comment was stupid. Seriously, stupid. Flight attendants are not there to make sure your meal is to your liking. They are there for safety. Safety is their priority. If a mistake is made, just kindly ask to have it changed. Seriously!!
