Crazy squirrel attacks residents of Vermont
The "Beast of Benington" attacked one resident, Kevin McDonald, while he was innocently shoveling snow in his front yard. According to the Bennington Banner, the squirrel jumped McDonald from behind, scratching at his back until being thrown off. The persistent squirrel came back for two rounds before McDonald retreated to his home and the squirrel disappeared into a nearby tree.
The next day, he saw his neighbor battling the same rodent with a metal pole and a blanket.
If your travels take you to Bennington, beware this hostile creature.

It's not the first case of lunatic squirrels attacking humans: the same thing happened around 2006 in Hampstead, London, when a squirrel attacked 6 people causing wounds and lacerations.unfortunately for him the last person he attacked was a builder wielding a spade..... the theory in GB. is that the London squirrels pick up fag-ends in the parks and eat the tobacco, which ultimately makes them nicotine dependent. Their 'bad'' tempers and erratic behaviour is thus due to withdrawal symptoms...... best way to catch it is using a squirrel trap, regularly on sale in GB for householders who don't want their wiring chewed up in the attic. To keep squirels away from your bird-feeders etc, shake the bird food in Cayenne pepper powder: the birds have a different taste and digestive system sio it doesn't affect them, while squirrels being mammals have the same reaction to the peppers as humans. They only try it once and then go away!
