These tips are very useful, although another one that I would throw in there is look out for unnecessary charges. Sometimes airlines and hotels like to charge extras for unnecessary things, as do cell phone providers when you go on trips. For SB 2011, pick up a prepaid cell phone. You won't have to worry about overage or roaming fees and when you finish with the trip, you can put the phone away until the next one. I got myself a TracFone for my last trip and it wasn't anything fancy, but I made it work and I didn't worry about losing it or extra charges.
