You are right - lots of adventure destinations in the U.S., especially for those who don't have the time or money for more exotic travels. You've listed three of my favorites (Yosemite, Grand Tetons and Taos). Michigan's Upper Peninsula and Maine's North Woods are on my "to travel" list. On a visit to Yosemite, I recommend spending time in the high country, away from the crowded valley where most of the tourists congregate.
