Well usually the Airline catering officers or companies that provide catering on different (airports) stations have a sound knowledge of specific requirements for specific routes eg. Middle East- option for halal food choice or kosher to Tel Aviv in this case, however the responsibility does not lie only with catering provider as the crew operating should have known as well this route-flight requirements ? if they knew about it and failed to advise - it will damage the company in many ways and generate negative public perception on specific markets. The other question is if they knew what was in those meal carts in the first place -and this would raise the question of this airline commitment to safety. If the carts were not checked then we could conclude that anything could be placed on the aircraft and not just wrong meals........
