Why your state sucks: the depressing but true map of America

The folks over at Pleated Jeans have come up with a funny yet painful new map of America. It doesn't show our cities or rivers or mountains, it shows our flaws. As you can see, each state is singled out for what they're worst at. Maps reveal a lot about the territory they cover, and this one shows more than some people may want to see.
I've lived in three different states and I have to say that I wasn't too surprised by the results. New York has the longest daily commute? My job there certainly had the longest commute I've ever had to do. Arizona has the highest rate of alcoholism? There was a bar near my house that served $1 pitchers of beer. Missouri being ranked highest in bankruptcy didn't come as much of a shock either, although I would have guessed somewhere in the Deep South.
I also wasn't surprised at Utah having the highest rate of online porn subscriptions. Harvard economics professor Benjamin Edelman, whose study came to this conclusion, noted, "Subscriptions are slightly more prevalent in states that have enacted conservative legislation on sexuality." Ah, the good old religious double standard!
In Washington state, they don't need online porn because they're humping animals at a higher rate than anyone. The source for this has a very small sample size, so maybe Alaskans are better at keeping their huskies quiet and Texans take their steers far out on the range.
Do you agree with the assessment of your own state? Tell us what you think in the comments section!

most of that crap takes place in my neighborhood of mobile homes here in central florida on a daily basis. and my neighbors in The Villages, 80,000 retirees who drink smoke and have sex with the highest rate of std's in the state if not the entire country have got to be record breakers of least 30 of those catagories. i was quite pleased to see identity theft but i'm thinking we have it all with the exception of washington state, to damn hot here to screw something with a bunch of fur.

I totally resent that Maine has been dubbed the dumbest state. To the best of my knowledge there is no higher incidence here of retardation than anywhere else. I've lived in Maine all of my life (so far) and any person who chooses to live here for it's low crime, clear water and air, and desiring a good place to raise his children and later to retire, I consider a pretty smart person.

I think Pennsylvania is worst at highway repair. And road signs. Pennsylvanians gripe about Jersey drivers, but it's not entirely their fault, Pennsylvania doesn't have a lot of signs, they are lost, and dodging potholes.

Oregon used to be a great place. Then the Carpetbaggers from other states
that had ruined their enviroment started moving here. Portland the largest city
has a mayor who likes underage boys. Bicycle Nazis run the city with the help
of the mayor. In the past politics were not polarized but now Oregon has become
the magnet state for weirdos, homeless and the self proclaimed liberal elite.
Walk down many main streets and most people have brightly colored hair (SEIU
purple is popular) with fishing tackle pierced into their tattooed faces. As a popular
past Governor used to say "Visit Oregon but don't stay." With native Oregonians
he is our patron Saint. Thanks out of state carpetbaggers for ruining our state.

I suspect the native Indians might have said the same thing when white settlers arrived in Oregon. Strange how quickly the memory fades!

No, I don't agree with the views of flaws on New York state. I've lived here for 7 years and I can tell you that its biggest flaw is depression and misery. Nobody's happy around here. Almost everyone takes anti-depressants. My best friend shot himself at 17.
I hate this state and can't wait to leave. Agreed?
