While I am an avid CouchSurfer (who, by the way, uses the term "guest" for anyone coming to stay with me), I do have some friends in the 30+ crowd who prefer AirBnB to CouchSurfing because its clientele seem to be more mature, more respectful of the space they are provided, and less the binge-drinking party type.
While, through CouchSurfing, I have never encountered someone who disrespects my space or lead a lifestyle I do not share, I only accept as guests those who I would like to have as guests.
I can see the value of AirBnB for subletting a space, or renting out a dedicated guest room. As I have neither a dedicated guest room nor am in the position to sublet my entire apartment I have yet to take advantage of the service. (Though I am signed up.)
