Yes, San Francisco is beautiful- However, it's also one of the most crowded and over-priced city that I have ever visited. Parking is almost non-existent, unless you're willing to pay 20-30 bucks a day to park, in a garage. The hotels/motels have a 30% use tax added to the basic cost of your room, and sales tax! Housing is extremely expensive.... About 25 years ago, I was laughing at a Real Estate book's listing for a tiny house on a tiny lot. The lot was 25 ft by 100 ft- The walls of the house abutted the walls of the houses on either side- You could not go from the front yard to the back yard without going through the house. It was 3 br's and 2 baths, a one car garage in half the basement, the other was just half a basement-that gives you some idea of the overall size of the dwelling. It was listed as "A STEAL" at only $129,900. I was laughing and a local man, told me, "YES, that is a good deal". At home in the Midwest, I replied, you'd be lucky to 40-50 thousand for that house, if it was in a good neighborhood. I've visited SF many times (spouse's kids in the area), I don't need to spend the money to see it again.
