On a recent round the world trip, I felt the itinerary was simply too complex to handle on my own. I've booked hundreds of flights directly, but this one I wanted to be sure to have someone to help me work out the details. It paid off. First, with a major itinerary change at the last minute due to violent protests in Bangkok (switched to Singapore, a wonderful place!) and second, with a ticket snafu between Cairo and Istanbul. Having someone to call when the airlines weren't answering (it was 9 pm EST when I was stuck) was priceless, and I made my flight with no problems.
