Thank you for your support of real travel professionals. I've been an agent for 20 years, and love what I do. I love sending people on trips - cruises, customized land programs. I am of the belief that travel is a step toward a peaceful world. Part of my day, every day, is spent on research and continuing education. I have traveled extensively, have cruised extensively on a variety of lines, and have done many a ship inspection as well. I like matching clients to the correct experience - I like knowing that my experience and professionalism helps people. My job is helping people realize their dreams - and there are many travel professionals out there with the same passion.
On the downside, there are also many travel agents out there who should not be selling travel. Really. So I would suggest this: just as you research your attorney, your accountant, and your doctor, do the same finding your travel agent. Find the personality that fits you, and also make sure that they have the chops to go along with that personality.
Without a travel agent, you're on your own.
