I can tell you what I plan to do about it. I used to take two or three trips per year spending nearly six hours each way waiting in lines and darting through airports to connecting flights. I never complained because they were "protecting" me from terrorists. On my last trip I was chosen to go through the x-ray machine. My heart was pounding as I was rushed over to the device. My shoes, computer and my camera case were across the room going through the scanner so I was trying to keep an eye on my property. A bowl was shoved in my face and I was told to empty my pockets. I quickly put my wallet, cell phone, keys and over three hundred dollars in cash in the bowl and the guy walked off in the opposite direction of all my other stuff to send it through to be scanned. Now I had two groups of stuff to worry about. They sent me into the machine and scanned me but when I started to step on through they stopped me and said I had something in my shirt pocket. I looked and I had forgotten I had a pack of gum in there so I showed it to him and tried to hand it too him. He grabbed another bowl and told me to place it in the bowl. He took it to the scanner and told me to go over to another group of TSA agents. I was told I was going to be patted down because I lied about having empty pockets. I wasn't as worried about the pat down as I was all my property I asked if I could get my stuff and was told not until they were finished. I saw my money and wallet laying on a table where people were grabbing their stuff so I asked if they would go get it they again said no. I was felt all over and left standing humiliated. I wanted to just hit someone. My wife had grabbed the computer and the camera bag so I got my other things and that damned pack of gum. We walked on too the plane my face was red and my fists clenched ready to explode. I dreaded the return trip. I worried about it my entire vacation. I had no problems but the anticipation had me breaking out in a cold sweat and stammering like I was a criminal. I finally realized I feared the TSA line more than the terror threat. I have decided no more flying. I'm going to drive and spend those hours on the road sightseeing instead of waiting. Never again!!!
