effiel tower is nice from a distance. notre dame was a disappointment in that it was filled with tourists and didn't feel like a place of worship at all (and I'm Catholic too.) as a city i love Paris.
Chicago in toto is a wasteland to me. if it didn't have lake michigan it'd be just a another big dirty crime-ridden city.

I beg to differ about Chicago. Rush Street, The Former Sears Tower, John Handcock Center, Museum of Science and Industry, Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, Wrigley Field, Michigan Avenue, Lincoln Park, Lincoln Park Zoo, Navy Pier, Buckingham Fountain, Clark Street...I could go on and on. Every big city has it share of crime. In Chicago you have things to do almost year round. Plus the fact of some of the greatest architecture not only in the city but suburbs as well. Sorry you don't find Chicago attractive, though there are many of us who find it to be a great city and travel destination.

I agree, Chicago has so much more to see and I have yet to see it all! Love that place. Crime is everywhere, like smog.
