Airport hotels growing in popularity, new Hotels.com data says

Staying at the airport used to be a hassle reserved only for early morning flights and the dreaded overnight layover. But new analysis from Hotels.com‘s guest reviews suggests airport hotels have surprisingly exceeded expectations and have made travelers reconsider staying at airport hotels.

“Travelers today are highly influenced by the opinions of others,” said Taylor L. Cole, director of public relations for Hotels.com. “…[M]ore often airport hotels are meeting and exceeding the needs of busy business and leisure travelers who expect savings, amenities and the convenience of an airport location.”

Data shows that airport stays are, on average, 42% lower in cost than downtown hotels, $75.50 per night versus $130.80 per night. Many airport hotels aim further the cost savings by offering complimentary Wi-Fi and hot breakfast.

Additionally, many airport hotels are conveniently located within major cities, with easy access via subway, bus, shuttle or light-rail.
