Bring an over-the-door shoe organizer - Hotel tip
After you check-in, hang this on the bathroom door and fill it with all of your toiletries or other items – yes, even shoes. The clear plastic variety is the best, so you can see the contents – and so can everyone else in your traveling party.
It works great for toothpaste, toothbrushes, hair brushes/combs, hairspray, aspirin, rain ponchos, etc. Everything is at your fingertips!

I have also used a canvas hanging sweater bag each compartment can hold something different -- I don't like to put my folded clothes in the dusty drawers.

I found this to be a very helpful idea when on a cruise. The bathroom was very small and I hung the over the door shoe organizer over the front of the closet door. It kept everything organized and from sliding in the bathroom.

I have traveled quite extensively around the world. I think this over the door shoe hanger is a teriffic idea. I will be sure to use it. Even if staying with realatives it helps keeping track of YOUR things in their space. Thanks to whomever submitted that idea.
On my around the world trip I called ahead to the next destination's bed and breakfast to book. Usually from one train station or airport to the next. I have stayed at some really nice places and once in Ireland, a really weird one.
I have used the fold up sweater bag idea quite a bit too. When travealing for a year with only one huge bag (hang up closet) you learn to use every inch of space.

This is also a great tip for cruise travel. I always take a plastic shoebag to hang over the back of the bathroom door in my cruise cabin. I store all of my toiletries here, including blow dryer and curling iron. It frees up the limited counterspace available in those tiny bathrooms.
