You mentioned some of my favourite areas/things to do in London (as a Londoner) and I'm sure visitors with a short time to stay here will find your tips useful.
As well as a visit to Tate Modern, it's fun just to stroll along the Southbank from London Eye near Waterloo to London Bridge or, if you want a longer walk, to Tower Bridge - lots to see and places to sit with a drink and just watch the world go by. To see a lot in a leisurely way, take a boat trip on the Thames. Much cheaper and quicker than the tourist boats is the Thames Clipper service (regular service to Greenwich from the pier next to the London Eye).
If you can stay longer than three days in London, do consider a home exchange with one of the many Londoners who offer their homes for swap (and who will give you many more tips on places to see in their areas).
