Yep Roy ... we're probably the only people who actually noticed that fake crab meat. The best sush/sashimi I ever had was in Hawaii at a local Japanese run restaurant .... with wasabi so hot, I thought I had a brain infarction. Created by a master sushi chef right in front of me. I think we paid less thasn $50 for two people .... about ten years ago to be sure.
This "adding" value has gone beyond acceptable .... diamonds and gold added to FOOD ..... it's nothing more than a publicity stunt. I'd like to post a few photos of starving kids in Haiti outside this jerk's establishment. Sour grapes? No way. I've moved with the millionnaires and sampled some of the best cuisine ... and nicest restaurants in the world. Very enjoyable only if the food matches up to the hype. Which too often it doesn't.
Now with a major "value adjustment" and with years of high living behind me ... I can still enjoy a treat now and then. But 'value added" is just another scam. And a distasteful one at that. On a lower level, the same silliness as stuffing a gorgeous fresh lobster with crab .... for heavens sake. If it's a really good lobster, you only need drawn butter.
This sort of nonsense nauseates me.
