I highly recommend trying Istanbul's unique ice cream. Not at all like North America's, neither is it like gelato; it's thickened with salep, the dried powder of a wild orchid now endangered. And the ice cream comes with a show! See it here: http://bobarno.com/thiefhunters/2008/04/turkish-ice-cream-pickpockets-in-istanbul/

I love the ice cream as well, food will have to be another post since there is so much great stuff. The ice cream "show" is fun once, but now I'm trying to learn how to say in Turkish "Just give me the damn cone, thanks."
