Gaylord Opryland hotel to re-open Nov. 15 in Nashville
Hotel officials say Nashville's largest hotel will re-open on Nov. 15, six months after the Cumberland River overflowed its banks and flooded the hotel's common areas.
The photo below, which was released by the Gaylord Opryland, shows that the water also rose within a foot or so of the ceiling in some guestrooms in the hotel's Magnolia area.

The Magnolia area rooms are getting a complete renovation (as shown in the rendering at right), with an updated, lighter look than they had before. The Gaylord Opryland hotel is also getting a new look in the Cascades area lobby and the rotating Cascades Terrace bar, as well as in several of the hotel's restaurants. Two new restaurants -- offering Mexican and Italian cuisine -- are being added during the rebuilding.
The adjacent Grand Ole Opry House, which was also flooded, is on track to reopen Oct. 1, according to Gaylord officials. (The Grand Ole Opry shows are still being performed at other Nashville venues.)
Gaylord's price tag for all of this clean-up and renovation is estimated to top $215 million.

With that kind of attitude we are glad you are staying away, because alot of folks love Nashville and Opryland!!!! ..Glad to see they are rebuilding/renovating, the area wouldn't be the same without it.

Opryland is always a must see place for friends and family that visit us in Nashville, and especially at Chriistmas-time so the Nov 15 reopening is perfect! I will check it out at the NSTA conference in early December. Glad there will be a Mexican restaurant added!

sounds like Al has a case of "hotel envy" - Get a grip Al ! I too am from Michigan, and I have been twice to the Opryland Hotel - I almost cried when I saw the pics of the flooding. That is the nicest hotel I have ever seen, and I just hope that all the rare plants will survive this disaster. Also I hope they get it up and running quickly to help out the economy. The ramafications of this mishap carries far beyond Nashville. God Bless all involved & keep up the good work!

Opryland will always be missed. This is not about the park. This is about the hotel. I go here every Christmas. It is absolutely amazing. The fact they say they will be open by November is incredible. The fact that someone would trash talk about not coming back to TN since the park is sad. This city has grown so much since the park closed. Although every Tennessean I know misses the park, the hotel is a sight in itself. Think about the true spirit of Nashville. The honky tonks, the music, the community.
