British fashion site to men: Don't pack the Speedos on your summer holidays
So, Very is urging the so-called "vacuum-packers" who wear the tight suits to leave them at home, and buy a new swimsuit from them, of course."As many as one in 10 men say they only go shopping once a year – which may explain why so many men continue to embarrass us with their holiday fashion choices," according to a Very press release.
The campaign to leave the Speedos at home follows the banning of Speedos at British theme park Alton Towers last year, and I, for one, must say I'm pleased to see the campaign against Speedos expanded to apply outside of the country, as well.
Other men's summer fashion crimes on Very's list include the "vacation uniform" of a football (soccer) shirt and shorts, socks with sandals and clashing Hawaiian shirts and shorts.

What is wrong with a speedo? Competitive swimmers wear them. Who wants to go to the beach and swim/tan in what amounts to 3/4 length pants? Talk about heavy. What's the point?
This summer I witnessed a trend among young men/boys: they wear these "swim suits" that extend below the knee accompanied by underwear as well. They must be so sogged out with water and sediment that it cannot be comfortable. Not to mention the yeast/mold that could grow and perhaps cause jock itch. We watch women routinely wear less than they do as undergarments. That seems ok. Is it because the male establishment still is willing to objectify women in place of their own chagrin? Is one's phobia to a speedo really all about body image? Let's face it most men are already so fat with ponches that they wouldn't be caught dead in a speedo for fear of exposing their folds and ripples. Another underlying issue I am sure is the "penis" embarrassment factor which is all about men and their intrinsic shame/hang-up about male genitalia.
