Woman begins canoe trip from Seattle to San Diego
Margo Pellagrino describes herself as "a stay-at-home mom who doesn't do a very good job at staying home." That seems an apt description considering she has just set off on a epic canoe trip that will see her paddling from Seattle to San Diego over the next couple of months, while raising awareness about the health of the world's oceans. Margo started her journey on July 3rd, and over the past few days she has paddled across Puget Sound, down the Juan De Fuca Strait, and out into the Pacific Ocean. From there, she'll turn south, with the intention of paddling her outrigger canoe all the way to San Diego, a distance of more than 2500 miles. Along the way, she'll make planned stops in a number of cities and towns, where she hopes to spread the word about the importance of the oceans to the overall health of the planet, and how we can all do small things on a day-to-day basis that will help protect them.
This isn't the first long distance paddle for Margo. Back in 2007 she made the journey from Miami, Florida to Camden, Maine, a distance of over 2000 miles, by canoe. She followed up that adventure in 2008 with another journey, this time along the Gulf Coast, going from Miami to New Orleans. Those trips helped to reinforce her love of the oceans, and her desire to help raise awareness about how their health can effect the rest of the planet.
You can follow Margo's progress by reading her latest entries to her blog and tracking her via GPS. She'll be making regular updates along the way, sharing her adventure, and message, with the rest of us.

Good for her.
I really appreciate what the young men are doing for the children of our fallen and wounded troops.
They are biking across our nation raising funds to buy the little kids bicycles this Christmas.

"FRED
Another elitist progressive is not going to work for 4 months so she can inform all of us simpletons of the importance of the ocean"
Let's step back and review the current situation: right now a drilling disaster is spewing MILLIONS of barrels of oil into my waters and onto my beaches (I live on the MS coast) and has been for months now with no end in sight; there are some 26,000 abandoned and idle wells offshore in the gulf with virtually no regulation or oversight; there are hundreds of producing wells and exploratory wells being operated at the minimum (or below) safety levels in this same gulf (also without any real oversight EXCEPT from within the oil industry); yet people like yourself have no problems with any of this. Instead, you wish to denigrate anyone who attempts to bring about a solution. Fact is, you damn simpletons NEED to be informed of the importance of the oceans.

What is the current obsession with "mother" and "mom" doing things? She is a brave, hearty WOMAN who happens to have kids. Those of us who are childless by choice also do interesting things. Women are not single-dimensional.

Tyred Bitcher.... Your crew of idiots that run your progressive misinformation campaign have again failed you... If you knew anything at all, you would know that the well is in 5200 feet of water because of 'environmentalists'. They lobbied, on taxpayer dollars, to have the well put 40 miles out of sight. If had been in shallower water in would have been capped in 1 day. Or, if you idiots had not again spent tax payer money on lobbyists, they would be drilling in Alaska on the North Slope where an accident like this is impossible. Thanks for your pre-recorded response, but I don't need some 90 IQ'd, self righteous prick spewing someone else's thoughts at me.
